Leading national soil scientists will be presenting on all things soil biology related at the ‘More Bugs in the System’ Soil conference on 9th November @ Go TAFE Wangaratta.

This forum will be facilitated by local soil scientist Cath Botta and aims to help land managers to better understand their soil biology and its benefits to soil health and farm production.

This forum is jointly hosted by the North East and Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authorities.

Ms Kelly Behrens, Project Officer from the North East CMA said ‘This is a great opportunity for land managers throughout the region to get an update on the latest research happening on all things soil biology.’

Presentations from Australia’s leading soil scientists, including Dr Pauline Mele, Associate Professor at La Trobe University and principal research scientist at Agriculture Victoria, will provide participants with practical strategies on how land managers can use soil biological processes to their best advantage and increase farm resilience.

Professor Elise Pendall - soil structure and its relationship to soil biology.
Professor Lyn Abbott – the nitrogen cycle, soil biology populations and nitrogen connection.
Dr Cassandra Schefe – the phosphorus cycle, availability and its relationship with soil biology.
Mick Rose – current research on the impacts of herbicide on soil biology.

The project is supported by the North East and Goulburn Broken CMAs through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme.
