Agriculture and natural resource management leadership program announced

08 Dec 2016

An innovative Community Leadership Program specifically designed for those working or volunteering in the Agriculture and Natural Resource Management sectors will be delivered in the Goulburn Murray region during the first half of 2017.

Northern Victoria’s Community Leadership Programs, the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Program (AVCLP) and Fairley Leadership have partnered with the North East Catchment Management Authority and the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority to bring this community leadership training to the region.

This is the fourth time that the highly-acclaimed program has been delivered by AVCLP in North East Victoria, and the second time it has been brought to the Goulburn Valley. AVCLP Executive Officer Kim Scanlon is thrilled to be able to deliver the program across the Goulburn Murray region.

“Feedback from the participants of our previous programs has been tremendous, with many of the participants telling us that they have developed the confidence to take on leadership roles in their workplace and community. We are looking forward to partnering with our Goulburn Valley colleagues to provide this opportunity to a broad range of people and strengthen our agriculture and natural resource management sectors” said Ms Scanlon.

The seven-day program is delivered over four months, and the participants study leadership, communication, community capacity building and leading change, decision making, governance and networking. A highlight of the course is an overnight study tour to visit innovative and entrepreneurial projects, and to meet the leaders that have developed them.

The program will commence in late February and registrations are currently being taken. To register, and for further information please visit the AVCLP website www.avclp.org.au or contact Kim Scanlon from the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Program on 0417 348 547.

The project is supported by the North East and Goulburn Broken CMAs through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme.
