North East CMA have rescheduled the postponed final Wangaratta Flood Study community update for early in 2017.

The final Wangaratta Flood Study community update, which had been planned for October 2016, had to be postponed due the flooding the region. Now that conditions have improved North East CMA would like to invite interested community members to attend Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre on 1 February 2017 at 10.30am-12pm.

The community update will discuss the data gathered for this study and how the information will be used and not the 2016 flood event.

Wangaratta Flood Study portal is available for anyone to access and community members planning on attending the upcoming flood study information session are encouraged to view the data prior to attending. To access the portal, please visit http://tinyurl.com/wangfloodmappingportal.

Rural City of Wangaratta, North East Catchment Management Authority and Water Technology have been gathering historical flooding data for the Wangaratta project area that covers Hume Freeway at Wangaratta and north to Waldara. This study has been made possible thanks to funding from the Victorian Department of Environment, Land Water and Planning.

North East CMA Project Officer, Ms Rebecca Damm, said the new data collected will replace out-dated data last collected from 1996-98. "With six floods in the last three years it's important to update the available data and local knowledge in this area is extremely valuable" said Ms Damm,
