The North East Catchment Management Authority cover a diverse area including river systems, forests, agricultural land, and urban areas and operate with the vision of diverse, healthy and connected landscapes and communities. The CMA works with Traditional Owners/First Nations Peoples, community, government and funding organisations to support the protection, transformation and adaption of landscapes.
We are currently seeking the right person to join our Finance team.
This position will contribute to achieve our vision of diverse, healthy, connected landscapes and communities by ensuring that the organisation meets its obligations under the Financial Management Act 1994 and has a strong financial governance framework in place.
The role provides leadership, expertise and oversight to both the finance team and broader organisation to support the delivery of the CMA's financial management which includes budgeting, business managers, monitoring of finance performance and reporting.
The successful candidate will have experience in:
- Preparing accurate information relevant to financial management and financial sustainability.
- Establishing and reviewing accounting and financial information systems, governance and internal controls.
- Providing assurance to Audit & Risk Committee, the Board and CEO that:
- Financial reports (estimates and actuals) present fairly, and in accordance with applicable Australian Standards
- Financial reports (estimates and actuals) are founded on a sound system of risk management and internal compliance and controls
- Systems and controls for financial management, performance and sustainability are operating efficiently and effectively in all material aspects.
- Providing strategic advice and options to support informed decision making and organisational strategy including future financial sustainability and financials implications of, and risks associated with, current and projected services and assets.
- Developing financial management capability.
- Maintaining a constructive relationship with key stakeholders.
- Overseeing the preparation of required documentation including the Annual Report and Corporate Plan.
- Effectively and efficiently coordinating the payroll system, ensuring all legislative requirements are met.
- Effectively manage direct reports including the supervision and direction of consultant and/or contractors.

This is a full time fixed term (9 month) position and is based in Wodonga. The salary package starting from $124,718 including superannuation will be negotiated based on experience.
