Grassy Woodlands and Bush for Birds the focus of May forum

A forum next month at Wangaratta will share the outcomes and findings of Bush for Birds, a $5M five-year project aimed at restoring habitat for the Regent honeyeater and Swift parrot.


2023 Victorian Landcare Grants now open

The Victorian Government has opened the latest round of the Victorian Landcare Grants, with $3.95 million funding available to Landcare and environmental volunteer groups and networks across the state for on-ground works, education, and capacity building projects that protect, enhance, and restore our land and natural environment. 


Fallen Swamp Gum relocation planned at Buckland River

North East Catchment Management Authority (CMA) will relocate a fallen Swamp Gum on the right hand bank of the Buckland River, heading off erosion and river health issues.


Fishing licence fees support river works at 'Mayfly Rise'

North East Catchment Management Authority (CMA) will partner with the Alpine Fly Fishers Inc to deliver an instream project to restore fishing habitat on the Ovens River below Jacks Swimming Hole at Bright.

A $38,000 grant has been awarded to the project by the Victorian Government through the Recreational Fishing Grants Fund. The project is supported by the Australian Trout Foundation and other angling groups, as well as the Victorian Fisheries Authority and Alpine Shire Council.


Tea Garden Weir Fishway construction underway

Construction has begun on a rock ramp fishway on the Ovens River, at the Tea Garden Weir, near Everton.

The project, funded by the Victorian Government and the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder (CEWH), is a partnership between Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) and the North East Catchment Management Authority (CMA).
