Funding is available for Community Soil Health Grants under the Securing North East Soils Through Knowledge Exchange project. This project is supported by North East CMA, through funding from the Australian Government. Two grants of up to $7,500 (ex GST) each are available from July 2022 to June 2023 to support community groups in the North East region to undertake activities to increase awareness and adoption of land management practices that improve and protect the condition of soil, biodiversity and vegetation in the region. Priorities are for projects that promote awareness and adoption of on-farm management practices that contribute to managing acid soils, hillslope and gully erosion and groundcover management in North East Victoria.
All applications for funding will be assessed on a competitive basis and successful groups will have up to 11 months to deliver their projects. All project activities and reporting must be completed by 1 June 2023.
The Securing North East Soils project is supporting a total of nine soil health community grants over the life of the project; six projects have been completed through grants to community groups since 2019-20, and a seventh is currently underway.
