North East CMA partnered with Goulburn Broken and North Central CMAs, Agriculture Victoria, the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) to support the Regulated Diversions Catchments Land and Water Use Mapping project that included the large-scale spatial capture of land and water use data of regulated diverters within northern Victoria for the 2022-23 irrigation season.
Mapping of land and water use in the regulated systems provides a basis for continuing assessment of shifting water demands and land use change.

The project focused solely on surface water diversions from regulated rivers and streams within the Broken, Campaspe, Goulburn, Kiewa, Murray, Loddon, Ovens, and Upper Murray River basins. Mapping of the unregulated rivers and streams, and groundwater systems are not included within the scope of this project but are a logical next step in building the story of land and water use change across Northern Victoria.
The 2022-23 Technical Report builds on previous work surveys undertaken in the GMID that includes a public dashboard and interactive tool to be able to explore the GMID focussed data further, click here. The Regulated Diversions Catchments data is to be presented on a similar dashboard and will be available soon.
